That weather change means we’ve officially entered the “pre-holiday” season.
Yes, already! Nope, I can’t believe it either!
It’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to show your friends and family how you feel about them. And if you like them (I can’t help you with the ones you don’t like, sorry), have you considered sourcing gifts from your fall garden?
“The way to the heart is through the stomach”– right?
My big brother has been asking me about growing collard greens since May. I’m going to surprise him with bundles of homegrown greens for Christmas. (I’m going to cook them, too!)
If you get starter plants from your local plant nursery, you have time to grow so many things for the holidays, like:
- Enough mustard greens for a big pot of smothered deliciousness to share with your family on Thanksgiving
- Loads of Kale for weeks of smoothies that your special person has every morning
- A cabbage for a loved one’s New Year’s Day meal to bring them prosperity in 2024.
You’d be growing them one less thing to pick up from the store during the holiday rush– if that’s not love, I don’t know what is…
So yeah, growing gifts is another way my fall garden will provide for me (AND reduce a little holiday stress).
Honestly, it’s giving “favorite sister/favorite daughter” with minimal effort, and I’m here for it!
Until next time, get out there and make some magic in the garden.
